Registration Begins for UAE Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The United Arab Emirates’ Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department announced the launch of registration for the country’s 13th Quran contest.

It said in a statement that those interested can sign up for the 2023 national Quran award, al-Khaleej website reported.

The deadline for registration is February 16, the department said, adding that the final round of the contest will be held in person from April 24 to May 12.

The contenders will compete in 9 categories, including memorization and recitation of the entire Quran, and memorization and recitation of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.

There will be five groups of contestants such as school students, members of Quranic institutes that are not affiliated to the department, and members of Quranic centers affiliated to the department.

Winners will receive cash prizes ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 UAE dirhams, according to the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department.

Earlier this week, winners of the 23rd edition of the Arab country’s Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran competition were awarded.
